What Is Performers Liability Insurance?
Performers insurance is designed to protect you from claims that occur during or as a result of your performance or business operations. It acts as a financial safety net in the event of accidents, injuries, or property damage incidents involving your audience, customers, and venues.
For example, you accidentally scuff up the flooring at a venue with your specialty clown shoes or put a dent in the wall with an amp while setting up for a music gig. Or an audience member breaks a wrist after tripping over one of your improperly secured extension cords.
Plus, most venues and events require proof of liability insurance with them listed as an additional insured on your policy in case something goes awry during your set.

Performers Liability Insurance - Annual and Event Policies
You have options with Insurance Canopy. If you only book one or two gigs a year, single-event policies meet most venue requirements and provide coverage for up to three days.
For growing performers or those with three or more shows a year, an annual policy provides more cost-efficient coverage with protection for unlimited gigs over a 365-day period. Plus, annual policies allow you to opt-in to key additional coverages like Gear and Equipment Coverage (also known as inland marine) or Cyber Liability Coverage.

- You accidentally cause damage to a venue where you’re performing
- A tree falls and crushes your equipment during an outdoor performance

What Types of Coverage Are Included in Performer Insurance?
Both Event and Annual Performer Policies include:
- General Liability: Coverage for injuries and damages done to those other than you, like audience members and event spaces
- Personal and Advertising Injury: Coverage for copyright infringement, libel, and slander claims
- Damage to Premises Rented to You: Coverage for damage to rented spaces like venues, recording studios, and similar places
- Medical Expense Limit: Coverage for medical injuries, regardless of who is at fault
We also provide optional add-ons for annual policies, such as equipment and gear coverage, cyber liability insurance, and the ability to add additional insureds for a nominal fee.
Additional Optional Coverages (Annual Policies Only):
- Equipment and Gear Coverage: Coverage for equipment damaged or stolen during or traveling to an event
- Cyber Liability Coverage: Coverage for cybercrimes and data breaches if you store client information online
- Additional Insureds (AIs): Extends your coverage to specific others, primarily venue owners and event coordinators
Cost of Annual Insurance for Performers
Annual policies start at just $18.50 per month or $199 per year and include comprehensive general liability coverage. You can add optional coverages for equipment and gear (from $7.50/month) and cyber liability (+$8.25/month).
Gear and equipment coverage helps you repair or replace damaged or stolen equipment. With an annual policy, you can choose either:
- $2,000 of coverage per policy year (+$7.50/month) OR
- $5,000 of coverage per policy year (+$15/month)
Cost of Event Insurance for Performers
Event performer insurance policies start at $59 for up to three days of coverage and include general liability, personal and advertising injury, products — completed operations, damage to premises rented to you, and a medical expense limit.
Event policies do not qualify for add-on coverages.
