What Does Insurance for Event Hosts Cover?
Your one-of-a-kind event needs the right kind of protection from the unique risks that come with hosting. Our liability insurance for weddings, parties, and other events provides a safety net against costly claims like:
- Guest injuries
- Damages to the venue and equipment*
- Alcohol-related incidents**
- If a client slips and falls on the dance floor, liability insurance helps cover medical expenses
- If your equipment scratches the venue floor, event coverage can pay for the repairs
- If your open bar leads to an accident, host liquor insurance helps handle the financial fallout
*Does not cover damages to your own property, decor, or owned items. Only intended to cover damages to rentals or those of your guests.
**Liquor liability insurance is only included if alcohol is complimentary (not sold).

General Liability Limits

The maximum amount of coverage you can receive during your policy period for bodily injury and property damage claims caused by your event.

The maximum amount of coverage you can receive during your policy period for bodily injury or property damage caused by products used at your event, even after it’s over.

The maximum the insurance carrier will pay per claim for bodily injury or property damage.

The amount your policy will pay for claims arising out of one or more of the following offenses:
– False Arrest, detention, or imprisonment
– Malicious prosecution
– Wrongful Eviction or Wrongful Entry
– Oral or written publications that slander or libel a person or organization
– Oral or written publication or material that violates a person’s right of privacy
– The use of another’s advertising idea in your advertisement

Applies to damage by fire to premises rented to the insured and to damage regardless of cause to premises (including contents) occupied by the insured for 7 days or less.

A no-fault medical policy that allows you to cover medical or funeral expenses for an individual up to the issued limit without deducting from the general liability aggregate limit. The injury or death must be a result of a bodily injury caused by your event.

Raised limits are available for General Liability, Medical Payments, and Damage to Premises Rented to You coverage.
Coverage for vehicles your business rents, leases, or borrows, or when employees use their own cars for work purposes.
Removes the exclusion for golf cart coverage within your policy. This coverage may only apply when drivers accompany carts; guests are not permitted to drive.
Added endorsement that requires your insurance to respond first to a claim, without asking the other party’s insurance to share costs.
Added endorsement that prevents your insurance carrier from going after a third party to recover money paid out on a claim.

Event liability insurance covers private and special events with up to 5,000 attendees, including but not limited to:

What Types of Events Are Not Covered?
Event host insurance does not cover:
- Events with over 5,000 attendees
- Events that go past 2:00 a.m. or overnight
- Certain concerts (rap/hip-hop, heavy metal, hard rock, or ska)
- Parades
- Political rallies
- Fraternities or sororities
- Overnight camping or retreats
- Adult or exotic venues
- Water activities or pools
- Fireworks (sparklers are okay)
- Mechanical rides (bounce houses, mechanical bulls, or inflatables)
- Motorsports
- Temporary grandstands
- International weddings or events

Yes, you need insurance even if your venue already has coverage. The venue’s insurance policy protects the venue itself, not you as the event host.
Having your own event liability insurance specifically protects you from paying the costs of accidents, injuries, or property damage that occur at your event. Most rental contracts specify that the event host is required to purchase their own insurance to cover these risks.
