- Barry’s Bootcamp instructors
- Bootcamp and HIIT instructors
- Cardio kickboxing and other aerobic martial arts instructors (non-contact)
- Children’s fitness instructors (for children two years and older)
- CrossFit instructors
- Dance instructors
- Dancercize instructors
- F45 instructors
- Golf instructors
- Group exercise instructors
- Gymnastics coaches
- Indoor rowing instructors
- Jazzercise instructors
- KINRGY instructors
- LaBlast instructors
- Online and virtual instructors
- Orangetheory fitness instructors
- Physique fitness trainers
- Pilates instructors
- SilverSneakers instructors
- Spin instructors
- Sport and e-sport coaches (excluding those affiliated with professional, semi-pro, or collegiate teams)

- Water aerobics instructors (in water depths up to four feet)

❌ Excluded Teaching Styles
These styles cannot qualify for Insurance Canopy’s sport and fitness insurance coverage:
- Aerial yoga
- Aqua therapy
- Aquatic fitness or any other activity in open water such as ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, ocean or sea and similar
- Aquatic fitness or any other activity performed in water depths over 4 feet
- Aquatic fitness or any other water activity without a lifeguard or CPR-trained professional present and overseeing all activities
- Any instruction in or the use of kayaks, paddle boards, surfboard, body or boogie boards and other on-water equipment
- Certified Athletic Trainers affiliated with organized sports or athletic team(s)
- Cycling or mountain biking (other than stationary)
- Law enforcement, public safety, or military training programs
- Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), boxing, wrestling and similar full-contact sports
- Medical professional services (such as medical, therapy, or health care services)
- Operations or services involving an equine
- Pole dancing, pole fitness, and exotic exercise
- Strength training or weightlifting for children under 8 years old
- Swimming instructions, lessons, or teaching

– Malicious prosecution
– Wrongful Eviction or Wrongful Entry
– Oral or written publications that slander or libels a person or organization

– The use of another’s advertising idea in your advertisement

The maximum the insurance carrier will pay for a bodily injury or property damage claim that you become legally obligated to pay due to your business and professional services.

Can I Customize My Policy?
Yes, you can customize your fitness instructor insurance! Your base policy includes general and professional liability coverage to cover you for claims involving client injuries, property damage, and professional mistakes.
Boost your coverage with optional add-ons like gear and equipment coverage, cyber liability insurance, or diet and nutrition coverage.
You can also pay how you want — choose from monthly or yearly payment options.
Just select what you need during your online application (or any time after purchase through your user dashboard) and you’re all set!
Am I Covered if I Work at Multiple Locations?
Yes! Your coverage keeps up with you wherever you work, from the gym to clients’ homes and back again.
Facilities will often require you to carry liability insurance and add them as additional insureds on your policy. Insurance Canopy makes it easy to meet these requirements, get covered, and start training at multiple locations fast.
Am I Covered if I Teach Children?
Insurance Canopy’s fitness policy covers instruction, coaching, or teaching children aged two years and older. However, strength training and weightlifting instruction are only covered for children eight years and older.
Am I Covered if I Teach Online?
Yes, if you teach fitness via virtual classes or offer pre-recorded videos, you’re covered with a fitness instructor policy. Insurance Canopy proudly insures many common types of fitness training styles — both online and in-person!
